Timo Salonen, l'homme qui venait du froid, gagne son premier rallye raid sous le soleil d'\u00c9gypte, lors du rallye des Pharaons 1993<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

La Finlande est pourvoyeuse de nombreux pilotes de rallye, dont beaucoup sont devenus champions du monde. Timo Salonen<\/strong>, qui d\u00e9bute dans la discipline en 1970, le devient en 1985, avec Peugeot<\/a> (205 Turbo 16 et Turbo 16 \u00c9volution 2). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entre 1977 et 1987, il inscrit onze victoires en Championnat, dont deux sur le fameux rallye finlandais des 1 000 Lacs, en 1985 et 1986. Ses performances s\u00e9duisent Citro\u00ebn<\/a>, qui le r\u00e9cup\u00e8re en 1993, pour \u00e9toffer son \u00e9quipe en rallye raid. Tout d'abord sur une ZX Grand Raid \u00c9volution. Quelque peu en retrait par rapport \u00e0 Pierre Lartigue, il d\u00e9montre toutefois l'\u00e9tendue de son talent en d\u00e9crochant des podiums sur l'Atlas, la Baja portugaise, la Baja Aragon, le Desert Challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timo Salonen est n\u00e9 le 8 Octobre 1951 de nationalit\u00e9 Finlandaise. Ses principaux succ\u00e8s : Champion du monde des rallyes 1985 sur Peugeot, Rallye des Pharaons 1993 et Baja Aragon 1994 avec Citroen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surtout, il signe sa premi\u00e8re victoire en tout terrain aux Pharaons. Lors des deux ann\u00e9es suivantes, il encha\u00eenera \u00e0 nouveau les podiums, s'imposant m\u00eame devant Lartigue<\/a> en 1994, sur la Baja Aragon. Il go\u00fbte \u00e9galement aux joies du Dakar en 1995, ann\u00e9e o\u00f9 l'\u00e9preuve part de Grenade, en Espagne. Malgr\u00e9 de nombreux ennuis m\u00e9caniques, il termine cinqui\u00e8me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il effectue finalement sa derni\u00e8re sortie sur une ZX \u00c9volution 4, lors de la Baja Aragon, dont il franchit la ligne d'arriv\u00e9e au deuxi\u00e8me rang, derri\u00e8re\u2026 Lartigue. Pendant ses trois ann\u00e9es de collaboration avec Citro\u00ebn, sa rapidit\u00e9 et sa r\u00e9gularit\u00e9 ont largement contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 la conqu\u00eate de la Coupe du monde des rallyes tout terrain par la marque aux chevrons. M\u00eame si sa retraite \u00e9tait amplement m\u00e9rit\u00e9e, dommage qu'il ait d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de stopper sa carri\u00e8re \u00e0 44 ans seulement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
